Bin Sorter - Circulation

Description

Bin Sorters get the first glance at what materials are returned to the library. As a Bin Sorter, you'll collect the books, DVDs, and Blu-rays that are dropped into bins by the AMH, verify that each item is in the correct place, then place the returned item onto the correct cart for shelving. Bin Sorters pivot to other positions during their shift as needed while the bins refill.

This is a physically demanding position. Volunteers should be comfortable walking for the full shift, lifting books out of bins, pushing a full cart of books, and repeatedly accessing the top and bottom shelves of library carts.

Bin Sorter is a Circulation position. Circulation volunteers are required to complete three shifts per month. Bin Sorter shifts are 1.5 hours long and available during specific library hours. Most Bin Sorter shifts are filled by devoted weekly volunteers, but if you see an available shift and you have completed the library's Circulation volunteer training, you may sign up for this position.
