Would you like to recycle damaged library books? Do you know your way around a pair of scissors? Would you like a social volunteer opportunity? Are you interested in helping the library celebrate National Library Card Sign-Up Month?
If so, we'd love to have your help! For this project, you'll work alongside other volunteers and library staff to cut damaged picture books into strips, put a specific number of strips into each kit, and seal each kit so patrons can make their own paper chains. We expect this activity will be popular with patrons, so we plan to make a lot of craft kits.
This position requires the ability to use a ruler to measure accurately, scissors or a paper cutter to cut precise lines, and/or a stapler to close kits. The noise level of this activity will vary with the number of volunteers.
Craft Kit Maker: Paper Chains is a Program Support opportunity. If you have completed the library's volunteer orientation, you may sign up for this opportunity. This opportunity is open to: Adults; Youth ages 12+; and youth under age 12 accompanied by an adult.
