Would you like everything to look as good as new for the Library building's reopening in May? Are you cautious to make sure every item is accounted for? Are you comfortable getting up high and down low to check every nook and cranny for misplaced materials? If so, we'd be delighted to have your help as a Straightening Sleuth!
Straightening Sleuths methodically examine every collection in the library to retrieve books or other items that may have slipped behind or under the stacks. After an area is examined for missing items, the Straightening Sleuths neatly pull all the items to the edge of the shelf to make the collection easy to peruse. In addition, the Straightening Sleuths may do so light balancing of shelves which involves moving materials from one shelf so that the shelves are roughly even with sufficient "wiggle room" for each item.
This position is physically demanding with repetitive reaching, bending, twisting, and squatting. Straightening Sleuths regularly lift books and access the top, middle, and bottom shelves of the library's collections.
Straightening Sleuths is a Program Support position. If you have completed the library's volunteer orientation, you may sign up for this position. This position is open to: Ages 18+; All ages accompanied by an adult.
